I am Charles A. Shipp, Jr. and I am running for United States Representative in Congressional District 20. I have lived in Bexar County for 23 years, 12 of those within District 20. I am a citizen like you who is gravely concerned with the direction that our elected leaders are taking us. I know what it feels like to not have enough money at the end of the month. I do not believe our current representatives know this feeling. I feel the same pains that you feel when the price of gas goes up or when the credit card companies increase our interest rates for no reason other than their profitability. I am deeply concerned about the tax burden that Congress is now strapping to our children and grandchildren with all of this reckless spending. I see congressional representatives who arrogantly ignore us, when we voice our disagreement with what they are doing. I am fed up with politics as usual in Washington.
It is time to FIRE all of these arrogant career politicians and put people in place that will listen to the Citizens. Now is the time to put Government back into OUR hands!
When elected I will work for the people of Bexar County and Texas first. I will introduce legislation keyed to a simple rule: the best interest of our people. I will support legislation that will promote our local economy. Government needs to be friendly to the people first, not party and special interests. It is time to enact legislation that will keep jobs here at home. I will support our troops and demand that we win the War on Terror, so that our troops can return home victorious rather than in retreat, as our current elected leaders would have it. I will promote legislation that will increase the benefits provided to our Veterans. We owe them that. I will work toward stopping Government bailouts and focus on the economic recovery of our citizens, not the banks. I will demand that our Congress live within its means, as you and I are forced to do. I will work to make America Energy Independent, with secure borders. I will support Pro-Life legislation. I will insist that all legislation be read entirely before any vote may be called on it.
I share the vision of our Founding Fathers that Government's first job is the protection of its people. Unlike our current Congress, I will expose the lies & the deceitful ways that they are conducting business with our hard earned money. I will NOT be a rubber stamp for any party. I will fully understand every piece of legislation and its implications to my constituents before voting for or against it.
I want to make this perfectly clear, I am not nor do I want to be a career Politician. I simply want to fix what I and so many Americans believe is wrong with our government. Most of all I will strive to put the Government back into the hands of the people where it belongs! Unlike many politicians today, I believe in and support the Tenth Amendment to our United States Constitution.
